I love Christmas. Really. It’s my favorite time of year. I love nothing more than Christmas. Well, besides Big Daddy and the Girls. ;o) Christmas is a big deal to me and I work super hard to make sure that I walk the line between making sure I relax and enjoy my holiday and having all the little loose ends accounted for so things are perfect.
Tree trimming 2008
This week, I spent some time making lists
- I menu planned (you can view my recipes and ideas at Google Docs)
- I refined my shopping list (and shopped a little bit too)
- I formatted a list for inside our advent calender (you can print that via Google Docs as well. Our advent calendar is similar to this, so I need to get a little bit creative.
Most importantly, I wrote out and updated a Calendar that counts me down to the holiday season (you can view it at Google Docs too).
People always ask why people like me start so early? It’s not even December. Don’t I know it, but making our holiday the best it can be takes time and effort.

Christmas 2003
This year, we’re trying something new as well. Each Friday, we watch a movie and have pizza. Thanks to an awesome idea I discovered in the blog-o-sphere, I’ve started making a themed treat to match the movie we’re watching. Starting the Friday after Thanksgiving, we’re having a Holiday Film Festival complete with treats. Here’s what it looks like
Friday November 27th
White Christmas and snowmen on a stick and rice krispie treat snowmen
Friday, December 4th
Christmas Vacation egg nog and gingerbread snots (or dogs. Like, you know, the one with the Mississippi leg hound in him? This is only funny if you know the movie.)
Friday, December 11th
Fred Claus and Claus Cupcakes
Friday, December 18th
The Santa Clause (we might even do a marathon and watch one and two) and Bakerella’s Reindeer Cake Pops
