Seven Things I’m Sewing for Spring/Summe

You remember my little word, right?  The one I’m trying to live by this year.  Part of that is to not let my craftiness by sidelined.  That means, doing that housework RIGHT now, so my free time is truly free.

One thing I love doing is sewing.  I haven’t done much over the past year and a half.  I have a closet full of fabric and two sewing machines.  I tried making sewing a priority for a week last fall, but that happened on a week where it wasn’t going to be possible.  Since then, I’ve sewn a few things, but not as much as I’d like so I’ve started dreaming about spring and summer sewing and that I’d share some things I’m going to be making.

1) Ruffled Skits from Grand Revival Designs

LittleBit would wear a skirt every single day.  Those look amazingly quick to whip up and won’t take a ton of matieral so Littlebit can have a skirt for every single day of the week

2) Pillowcase dresses from Jen Leheny

What makes pillow case dresses so great is that you can wear them over shirts and leggings when the weather is cold, but in the summer time they can be worn on their own.  I think Baby Bee’s entire summer wardrobe could be pillowcase dresses.

3) The Sunny Day Dress/Top from House on Hill Road

This desgin was popular with the Princess when she was younger and has become popular with Littlebit.  Easy summer dressing. You can buy pre-smoked material, of course (and making those pre-smocked sundresses are GREAT beginner’s projects) but for more fabric and length options, you’ll want to make your own.

4)Shirred Tank Top from Indie Tutes

These will look great over shorts and capris as the weather warms up.  Maybe the Princess would even like them too!  (My sewing for the Princess seems to now be limited to pajamas)

5) Headbands by Heather Baily

Littlebit loooooooooves headbands and the Princess does too.

6)Skirt with Shorts from The Long Thread

Skirts  with shorts are must haves if you have really active girlie girls at your house.

7)Round Neck Tops/Dresses from That Darn Kat

This one isn’t free, but it’s beautiful so it’s worth it.

Jenny, I’ve seen those t-shirt tote bags before. I’ve never made one, but they’re adorable. Hope you get a new machine for your birthday!!

I really need to improve my sewing so that I can make my daughter cute clothes! I’ve been trying to get better with my cleaning schedule too – I would love to have more free/crafting time.

Thanks for stopping by my blog (way back when) Hope you were able to get some deep dish while you were back in town =)
