Peanut Densitization-Phase One

On Tuesday, the Princess traveled to Toledo with Big Daddy for the second time. This time, it was to take her first doses of a peanut solution that would begin the desensitization process. The Princess had no reaction, but only opted to take two doses. I was hoping that, perhaps, she’d be able to tolerate more, but we feel like this is a good start.

The Princes came home with a cold bag full of solution for the next week.

I’m not sure if you can get the scale of how small this amount is. I think it’s 10 ML for the entire cup and it’s 14 doses. That’s how small we’re starting. Teeny tiny. Today, I congratulated the Princess on eating 1/1,000,000,000,000,000th of a peanut, but I probably wasn’t too TOO far off.

The appointment today was fairly simple. The Princess and Big Daddy showed up, were briefed and the Princess was dosed. She was checked on for 15 minutes and then dosed again after she showed no reaction. She could have continued at this point, but opted to stop.

Next week, we return to the allergist and go through the same process again, up dosing until the Princess asks to stop or she has a reaction.

Today was a little stressful for me and Big Daddy and the Priness were a little nervous too. We weren’t sure what to expect and sometimes that’s scary. Thankfully, everything went well and we feel like we’re in good hands with Dr. Winder.
