It’s the Last Weekend of Summer–And the Menu Plan!
Tomorrow, we send the last of our three off to her first day of school and then from 8:40 until 11:45 the house will be quiet. I’m not going to judge anyone for their feelings regarding a quiet house. I tend to not like it at first, but as the school year rolls on, I like the few hours of time to myself. I can’t wait to share pictures of Baby Bee dressed up in her back to school finest. She’s such an adorable little peanut.
The leaves are kind of starting to change here already. Is that happening where you live? It seems so early, but I really don’t mind. I’ve never been afraid of my love affair of fall and winter. Admittedly, Big Daddy had a long winter and I do worry a little bit as the hours of sunshine ebb away. I like my boy happy. Maybe a grow lamp?
Anyhow, I’m trying to balance my need for fall foods with the warmer, still mostly summer temperatures. My internal clock is telling me it’s time for stews and roasts. Big Daddy is still clinging to summer, even though the maples are beginning to turn red and yellow.
Monday Big Daddy’s amazing smoked burger with corn on the cob and watermelon. I’m having mine sans bun but with cheese.
Tuesday Baby Bee’s choice as the Back to School girl.
Wednesday Santa Fe Chili London Broil and Avocado Cilantro Rice I’m totally serving corn on the side. The girls adore corn in any manner
Thursday Pre-Weigh in dinner Southwestern Chopped Salad with grilled chicken on the side
Friday Belated Birthday Night Out
Saturday To encourage more activity, we’ll be having a crock pot dinner one weekend night per week. This week it’s honey parmesan pork roast
Sunday Fontina and Pesto stuffed chicken breasts, crash hot potatoes and veggies
What are the leaves doing where you live? Any hints of fall yet?
